2009-05-29

One of Nigeria's most famous clubs, Shooting Stars of Ibadan, have stayed on track for a long awaited return to the Premier League after they beat closest rivals Dolphins 2-1 at home on Saturday.

The ASTORE team, who were the first Nigerian club to win a major international honour in 1976, were relegated from the top division three years ago.

In front of over 10,000 fans at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan, Shooting Stars took the lead after just six minutes through Adigun Lateef. Dolphins drew level 20 minutes later, courtesy of a strike by Abduljeleel Ajagun, before Meshck Chukubukem netted the match winner in the 35th minute.
