PROFESSIONAL DATA
Richard Oribe began his swimming career as a therapy for his cerebral palsy.
He started out in sport swimming at the Aspace Federation’s Dordoka club in San Sebastián, spending the 1998-99 season with the San Sebastián Konporta Kirol Elkartea club, in which he currently swims under the technical management of Javier de Aymerich.
He enjoys other sports such as cycling and football, and is a regular spectator of many more, which he follows in the newspapers and on TV.
His sports idols are the Real Sociedad football club, the Bera Bera handball team and the Bardulia IKT and Bidasoa XXI swimmers.
His hobbies also include music and computers, he carefully controls his training by computer and he enjoys browsing internet.
He trains from 2 to 4 hours daily, depending on the time of the season, with gym and swimming sessions. He combines sport with a job at his parents’ workshop, and in summer he collaborates by playing with the children of the Tintín Zurriola club’s Konporta Kirol Elkartea swimming school on San Sebastián beach.
Training is of utmost importance for a sportsman. Richard trains six days a week, with a total of up to 13 sessions (10 pool sessions and 3 or 4 gym sessions)
